D up↑, R down↓
Congratulations dear Americans on the elections and the new US president. no matter how the results came out, you hope and we hope that the new president will bring a brighter future to the USA and Iraq.
More than 130 million Americans have been voted. That is a massive number.
What I like the most about Americans is that they didn't put " race" on top priorities while voting, the majority of white people had elected Obama who is an African descent, because they don't believe in colors or religions but principles towards the country and its people...
Once again Mabrook :)

Thanks Marsho!! It is such an exciting time for our country. It wasn't that long ago that our country went through its civil rights movement to bring equality for people of all races. I am so proud of my country and proud of my grandparents who both voted for Obama despite having been born into an era when black people were third class citizens. I am proud that we elected someone who worked hard to get where he is instead of our current president who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. I hope that Obama is good for Iraq. After spending a year in your country, I wish the best for it and for its people. How long before you'll be joining us?
thanks for your kind words.
Im excited for the US. I really am. Its a strange feeling. I think they finally decided that change is in place. Bes you know MM, I asked so many of my American friends in Baghdad, they were really disappointed. I wonder why...
Thanks!
Americans in Baghdad are upset because most of the military(and military affiliated contractors) tend to favor the Republican party because the Republicans in general focus on national security more than the Democrats do and pour a lot more money and resources into the military machine. That is why the Americans overseas were generally rooting for McCain. As you can see though, the majority of Americans wanted a new direction.
Have a nice weekend with an old song from Demi Roussos
It's five o'clock
and I walk through the empty streets
thoughts fill my head
but then still
No one speaks to me
My mind takes me back
to the years that have passed me by
(interlude)
It is so hard to believe
That it's me
that I see
in the window pane
it is so hard to believe
that all this is the way
that is has to be
It's five o'click
and I walk through the empty streets
The night is my friend
And in him
I find sympathy
And so I go back to the years that have to past me by
(interlude)
It is so hard to believe
That it's me
that I see
in the window pane
it is so hard to believe
that all this is the way
that is has to be
It's five o'click
and I walk through the empty streets
The night is my friend
And in him I find sympathy
He gives, gives me day
gives me hope
and a little dream too
Dear marsho habibti,
I agree with you.. we must congratulate our American brothers and sisters for making a new step on their way..
no differences in colors no in religions, yes, we are all just like one family , here to love each other..
Who is honored to be your little sister,
Sandybelle
Well Marsh I wasn't for Obama, but I like the optimism he created. What it will mean for Iraq, I don't know. He wants to pull out of Iraq and send more troops to Afghanistan so the "End the War" crowd will be disappointed. Economic recovery is going to take a long time. With me, race was never an issue any more than it is an issue as to who becomes a friend of mine. Common ground is the important thing. Obama's got a tough job ahead and he won't be able to keep all the promises he's made, but we'll have to give him time and see what he delivers. Our own Governer, Bill Richardson, is up for Secretary of State. I think he would be a good choice in dealing with International issues. Luck to Iraq. Solo
thank you so much for sharing our hopes. i hope our choice of Obama furthers peace in iraq.
god bless you and holds your safety in his heart always.
Hello Solo,
But I heard that John Kerry is a strong nominated for the Secretary of State!
By the way I've seen John Kerry in 2004 for his visit to my city, at that time he was called Mr. Loser because George W. Bush had won the presidential Elections hahaha...
Thanks for sharing your opinions :)
Richardson's got a better track record on the international scene. Wasn't all that crazy about him as our Gov. but I recognize his talents. I'm sure Obama will be calling to ask my opinion soon : D Solo
There is also a rumour that Hillary Clinton could be offered Sec. Of State. I think she would be great. I like all three of the choices...Richardson because I think he is so calm and smart..same with Kerry. Hillary has it all. She is tough..she will stand her ground...she will tell Obama if she thinks he is wrong. I guess we have to wait and see.
I too am happy Obama was elected...for all of us.
Laurie
Laurie, Hillary might be an adequate choice, but why go for good when you can go for great?
I am thinking let us use someone you has been through 8 year's trial by fire, who isn't interested in any political office, and who is known by everyone in the world. George W Bush would be an amazing choice as Secretary of State. Since Bush isn't running for any other office, he will be nonpartisan and above the fray. He also has the humility of knowing that others are smarter than he is. Bush would also be a "FAR" better choice than Dick Cheney. If Bush doesn't get the job, it should be Brad Pitt.
What do you think neurotica, marsho etc.?
Boooo Marshmallow,
Spooky photo
Not as scary as what happened with the American electorate, but very creepy nevertheless. I've never encountered skeleton-headed entities like in the photo, but I have made the acquaintance of grim reapers/monks (3 of them), a shadow person, and something that looked just like him: Rev. Kane
Which was not a pleasant experience. He was glaring rather malevolently at me from about 1.3 meters away...
LOL, you would have wet your pants.
I am so happy Obama won the election and hope to see him take this country in a new direction. I was very disappointed in how the republican party took us down a road that not only destroyed your country, but allowed us to get in this economic downturn that we are now in. Cheers to better days ahead!
Lady, where are you?
HI XOXO,
I am here but not in a mood of writing these days, thanks for asking though :)
